Product Overview
The RECON Accelerator Electronic Board Controlling Co is used in the computed Tomography (CT) machines, ultrasound machines and in a few other Digital Imaging (DI) machines. It is a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) with many components soldered to it and connected using the Printed Wire Assembly (PWA). It is a PC expansion card that dramatically increases the reconstruction performance of the Global Recon Engine (GRE) by off-loading specific applications from its general-purpose processors to fully programmable hardware. The major elements consist of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), QDR™ (Quad Data Rate) Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) and flash memory. The power up configuration (PUC mode) performs hardware verification, saves verification results, and remains idle until instructed by the host software to re-configure itself for execution of an application specific function. The power up configuration contains a PCI bus interface, command decode unit and command block memory, QDR™ SRAM ‘A’ and ‘B’ interfaces, Flash memory and controller interface. Some of the applications are parallel beam back projection, fan beam back projection and cone beam back projection. It is designed to fit any off-the-shelf motherboard’s 3.3 volts, 64-bit PCI slot. This card is widely being used in machines such as BrightSpeed Edge Select 8 - Slice, Angio CT Biplane, LightSpeed 5.X HP60 16-Slice, Discovery ST HP 4-Slice, Infinia II and other medical diagnostic machines.
